It's excellent quality and the added reach does make a big difference to reduce the lens swaps. ronmartblog.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06815090271742112506noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5826231802859523569.post-88718939792097482992018-04-30T16:59:11.125-07:002018-04-30T16:59:11.125-07:00As mothers day approaches the Canon 5D Mark IV is ...As mothers day approaches the Canon 5D Mark IV is at the top of my list. However, I am unsure if the Canon 24-70 f/4L IS USM or the Canon 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM is the better choice. The buffer isn't as big as I wish it would be, but I shoot RAW+JPEG so my buffer needs are greater than someone shooting just RAW, just JPEG, or sRaw/mRaw. The faster write times help too if you have a newer CF card (but don't load a CF with a SD as that slowed things down on the III, so I suspect it may do the same here too).

Weddings would benefit from the extra resolution for details in the dress, better dynamic range, the brides hair and eyelashes, etc... High ISO performance was much better than I expected to see per the article.ronmartblog.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06815090271742112506noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5826231802859523569.post-62137149589863119912016-11-08T13:49:29.307-08:002016-11-08T13:49:29.307-08:00Hi Jeffrey,

Overall I found it to be better than my 5D Mark III, but the 1DX Mark II did have more in-focus shots than the 5DM4. I also found that dual pixel AF resulted in more out of focus shots, but ironically you can correct that in DPP so it was rather amusing/odd that I saw that behavior.

If you see my comparison with the 1DX Mark II article, you'll notice that in the studio I had some shots where the AF point was exactly on the eye, yet it front focused from my incredibly accurate 70-200 f/2.8. It was inconsistent, so there seems to be something there that hopefully will be addressed in a firmware update, as I couldn't see any calibration issues with the FoCal (see http://photos.ronmartblog.com/img/s7/v168/p307181712.gif)

Simply put, in my opinion the AF is much better on the IV than the III.ronmartblog.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06815090271742112506noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5826231802859523569.post-19968607907545499872016-11-08T12:42:35.825-08:002016-11-08T12:42:35.825-08:00Thanks for the review Ron.
