My favorite automotive photographer Tim Wallace is on Kelby Training and has some great videos to show you how he does his magic. I watch this class and others and loved them, but it has taken me forever to try to apply what I learned. Here’s my first attempt and I kinda like it. It’ll be fun to hear what Tim has to say.

More Info about this shot

This shot was taken with a Canon 1D X using the new EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II lens.  My camera was set as Tim advises in the video, and I used the Elinchrom 14 x 35" Softbox with the Elinchrom Quadra S Pro set found on my studio lights on B&H. The quadras were a little tricky since the modeling light isn’t constant, but I managed.

Editing was done in Lightroom 4.2, Photoshop CS6 with Color Efex Pro 4’s Tonal Contrast filter and a Silver Efex Pro 2 layer with 30% opacity.
